A longer term may reduce the estimated monthly payment while increasing the total amount of interest paid over time.

Most boat loans are fixed-rate installment loans: you borrow an amount, pay it back in equal monthly payments, and each payment covers that month's interest plus part of the balance. The calculator uses the standard amortization formula:
Payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−n)
P = amount financed · r = APR ÷ 12 (as a decimal) · n = number of monthly payments
Take a $75,000 boat with a 10% down payment ($7,500), financed at 7.99% APR for 15 years:
In the first month, about $449 of the $645 payment goes to interest and about $195 reduces the balance. As the balance falls, the interest portion shrinks and more of each payment goes to principal. The amortization schedule above shows that shift year by year.
Four inputs drive the estimate. Changing any one of them changes both the monthly payment and the total cost:
The advanced options add amounts that are often part of a real purchase: taxes (applied to the price minus any trade-in), fees, and other items you may choose to finance, such as a trailer.
The results are estimates for comparing scenarios. An actual loan's rate, term and payment depend on the lender's review of your application and the boat. When you are ready, you can continue to the official application through Vantage Recreational Finance.
If you plan to finance them, yes. Open Advanced options to add an estimated sales tax rate and fees. If you will pay them in cash, leave them at zero so the estimate reflects only what you borrow.
It is the month the last scheduled payment would be made if the loan started this month and every payment were made on schedule. Paying extra toward principal can move it earlier — see the Extra Payment Calculator.
Use an estimate and try a few values to see the range. Rates vary with credit history, the loan amount, the term and the boat's age. LendingTree reported an average boat loan APR of 8.40% in Q4 2025; your rate may be higher or lower.
Your down payment, any trade-in value and all scheduled monthly payments. It does not include ownership costs such as insurance, storage or fuel — estimate those with the Ownership Cost Calculator.
