Yacht Payment
Estimate the monthly payment on a larger boat or yacht. The calculator starts with a $350,000 example, 20% down, a 7.50% example APR and a 20-year term — replace them with your own numbers.

Based on your numbers: $0 financed at 0% APR for 0 years.
Change any value in the calculator to see how your estimated payment and total financing cost respond.
See how the loan term changes the numbers. Same boat price, down payment and rate — only the term changes.

A longer term may reduce the estimated monthly payment while increasing the total amount of interest paid over time.
Open the Loan Term CalculatorA yacht loan is usually a fixed-rate installment loan, the same kind of loan used for smaller boats. The difference is scale: a larger amount financed and, often, a longer term. The calculator applies the standard amortization formula to the amount you finance:
Payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−n)
P = amount financed · r = APR ÷ 12 (as a decimal) · n = number of monthly payments
The amount financed is the yacht price minus your down payment and any trade-in, plus any taxes, fees or other items you choose to finance under Advanced options.
These are the calculator's starting values. They are illustrative numbers, not current market rates or an offer of credit.
In the first month, about $1,750 of that payment is interest ($280,000 × 0.625%) and about $506 reduces the balance. Because the balance is large and the term is long, interest takes most of each early payment. The share going to principal grows every month as the balance falls.
With a balance this size, small changes in any input move the payment by hundreds of dollars a month. Using the same $280,000 example:
| Scenario | Amount financed | Monthly payment | Total interest |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 years at 7.50% | $280,000 | $2,256 | $261,359 |
| 15 years at 7.50% | $280,000 | $2,596 | $187,214 |
| 20 years at 6.50% | $280,000 | $2,088 | $221,025 |
| 20 years at 8.50% | $280,000 | $2,430 | $303,177 |
| 10% down, 20 years at 7.50% | $315,000 | $2,538 | $294,028 |
On a yacht, the loan payment is often only part of the monthly cost. Dockage or storage, insurance, maintenance, fuel, crew or captain fees and haul-outs can add up quickly, and they tend to rise with the size of the vessel. Estimate them alongside the payment with the Boat Ownership Cost Calculator, and check what lenders typically review before you apply.
The math is the same: a fixed-rate loan repaid in equal monthly payments. What usually differs is the size of the loan, the down payment a lender may look for and the length of the term. Lender requirements for larger loans can vary, so treat the defaults here as an example.
Use an estimate and test a range, for example one point above and below. The 7.50% starting value is an illustration, not a quoted rate. An actual rate depends on your credit, the loan amount, the term and the vessel.
Yes. Choose Custom under Loan term and enter any term from 1 to 30 years. Whether a lender offers that term depends on the loan and the vessel.
Only if you add them. Open Advanced options to enter a sales tax rate, fees and other financed amounts. Tax rules for vessels vary by state; consult a qualified tax professional for your situation.
